Reshaping a Buckaroo Crown

Reshaping a Buckaroo Crown

Q: I’ve got 4x beaver Resistol that’s got a flat top buckaroo shape, do you completely reshape hats? I’d like it reshaped similar to Ryan Binghams hat on Yellowstone, but more of a CHL crown.

A: It’s a tough proposition getting those lines out of a buckaroo crown. Especially if they’ve been in the  hat for a while.  If the hat was machine pressed/shaped it’s 99% impossible  to do without re-blocking the entire hat. Hand shaped hats are more forgiving.

Being a 4x hat , as a general rule, means it’s probably a wool or wool blend. With today’s (2025) pricing that’s around a $200-$300 hat. Although that’s not cheap, to spend $75-$125 to have it re-shaped may warrant keep g your Buckaroo and getting a new hat shaped the way you want it . But that’s another topic.

If possible please send a picture of the hat you want to change and we’ll be able to give you a better answer.
